Victoria RESCA recognises outstanding emergency services volunteers and paid personnel who serve communities across Victoria.

All nominees must be based in Victoria or actively serving Victorian communities at the time of nomination. Use this page to identify the most suitable category for your nominee and to review the key eligibility rules that apply to every nomination.
  • A Winner of these Awards previously as a Volunteer of the Year and/or Officer in Paid Capacity is ineligible to be nominated.
  • A Finalist in these Awards, is ineligible to be nominated again within a period of 5 years.
  • A Nominee not selected as a finalist can be nominated again in the following year.

These awards recognise outstanding individual members of Victoria’s emergency services. In both the paid and volunteer category, nominees are assessed on their sustained service, leadership, commitment to community, and demonstration of Rotary values of service above self.
Key Eligibility Rules

Nominees must be based in Victoria or actively serving Victorian communities through their emergency service role.

Unless otherwise stated, nominees must be currently serving (paid or volunteer) with the relevant emergency service at the time the nomination is submitted, or have concluded service within the past 12 months with a clear reason (such as retirement).

Nominees must be in good standing with their organisation. Nominations may not proceed where there are substantiated conduct, performance or disciplinary matters that are inconsistent with the values of the awards.

A nominee may be nominated in more than one category where appropriate, but duplicate or substantially similar nominations may be consolidated at the discretion of the awards committee.

Judges and organisers must declare any conflicts of interest. Nominations may be reassigned or managed to ensure fairness and transparency throughout the assessment process.
Before You Nominate
Before submitting a nomination, please confirm that your nominee meets the general eligibility criteria listed here. If you are unsure, you can refer to the Nomination FAQs or contact the awards team for guidance via the Contact page.

Remember
  • A Winner of these Awards previously as a Volunteer of the Year and/or Officer in Paid Capacity is ineligible to be nominated.
  • A Finalist in these Awards, is ineligible to be nominated again within a period of 5 years.
  • A Nominee not selected as a finalist can be nominated again in the following year.
Nominations are welcomed from across the community, including members of the public, Rotary members, colleagues, supervisors and leaders within emergency services organisations.

You may submit more than one nomination, but each submission must be for a different individual or team and tailored to the most appropriate category. Self-nominations are generally not accepted. Where an organisation submits a nomination, a primary contact person should be identified.
